2015 Sub Appreciation BBQ!

It was another hot August afternoon for this year’s Annual Subcontractor Appreciation BBQ at our office in Anaheim. Still, more than 100 subcontractors braved the heat and caught some shade under the 80-foot tent we set up in our parking lot. This year, the tent was rocking with the tunes of Velvet Thunder while our guests enjoyed delicious BBQ food and exhibits from vendors such as Ganahl Lumber, Simpson Strong Tie, Hilti, James Hardie, and Capital Lumber. The event also gave Driver SPG team members an opportunity to meet with each of the subcontractors and thank them for all the work they do for us throughout the year.

We continued our patriotic theme from last year by partnering with Patriots & Paws, a local non-profit organization that is completely managed by volunteers and provides furniture, household items, and support for veterans who are returning from overseas. Patriots & Paws collects donations at their warehouse in Anaheim and gives all items away for free to local veterans. They also have a connection with the WAGS Animal Shelter and are able to pair veterans with companion animals when desired. This year, thanks to donations from our subcontractors, we were able to give $3000 to Patriots & Paws as well as a truckload of hygiene items, small appliances, and household goods. Everyone that donated to Patriots & Paws also received a raffle ticket for one of our great prizes. At the end of the day, we gave away tools from Hilti, Simpson Strong Tie, James Hardie, and Dewalt as well as Visa gift cards and a 60” Smart TV!

Jim Wathen, C.W. Driver Companies’ Safety Director, recognized two subcontractors who have shown exceptional safety programs on a number of our projects. This year’s winners were Kana Pipeline and Sunwest Electric, which both received plaques and gift cards as appreciation for helping to keep our jobs safe.

We would like to say thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated with us for making it such a fun afternoon! If you missed it, you can view more photos from the event here. We’ll see you next year!
