Recently, Driver SPG held the Third Annual Subcontractor Appreciation BBQ at our office in Anaheim. This year, we covered our parking lot with an 80-foot tent to keep everyone out of the sun. More than 200 subcontractors attended the event which featured live music, finger-lickin’ BBQ food, and vendors such as DeWalt, Ganahl Lumber, Simpson Strong Tie, Hilti, CTS Cement, Hub Has It, James Hardie, and DAP Products. The event also gave Driver SPG team members an opportunity to meet with each of the subcontractors face to face and exchange information during a speed networking session.
We had a patriotic theme this year and used the event as an opportunity to support our local Veterans. We asked all of our guests to bring a donation of hygiene kits, clothing, household items, and cash to support two deserving non-profit organizations who are doing important work for our Veterans – Veterans First and the Wounded Warrior Project. Everyone that donated an item received a raffle ticket and, at the end of the day, we raffled off great prizes like a Ganahl Lumber skateboard, DeWalt tools, Milwaukee Speakers, and a 60″ LED TV. Each year, we are surprised at the amount of donations we receive, and this year was no different. With everyone’s help, we were able to donate a truck-full of clothing and hygiene items as well as $3,500 to the two organizations!
The event was a huge success and is always one of our favorite events of the year, it’s also a great way for us to say thank you to our subcontractors for all the hard work they do for us. Thanks to everyone who came out to the event and donated to Veterans First and the Wounded Warrior Project!
