Driver SPG recently completed our third ALS renovation of the year. This project was for Mark and Donna Hume and was lead by Project Engineer, Serge Norkin. Mark was diagnosed with ALS in December 2012 and his mobility has slowly been declining since that time. Currently, he is still able to walk and has been going up and down the stairs in their Foothill Ranch home to access his bedroom. As a result of ALS, Mark will eventually lose the ability to walk and required a renovation to the first floor of his home to include a bedroom and handicap-accessible bathroom. Driver SPG and a team of subcontractors came up with a plan to transform the existing garage into a Master bedroom and bathroom.
The project included closing off the existing garage door, adding new flooring, new lighting, paint, HVAC system, and building an ADA accessible bathroom with new tile, fixtures, mirror, and paint. The project came together quickly and was completed in three weeks. This new bedroom and bathroom will allow Mark to have access to the downstairs of his home and a comfortable place to live once his mobility slows down. In total, the project is valued at $21,000 and required more than 200 hours of volunteer labor to complete.
We would like to thank the project team and everyone who helped make this renovation so successful! Thank you for all of your hard work: Serge Norkin, Tim Wingfield, SPG Self Perform, Hy-Tech Tile, Perfection Plumbing, Riley Electric, Sheward & Sons, Glazing Concepts, and K&S Air.
