Driver SPG Breaks Ground on the Discovery Science Center!

Last week, the Discovery Science Center (DSC) and Driver SPG began construction on a 43,340 SF expansion that will double the size and capacity of the Science Center and increase the number of educational programs offered to local students and teachers. The groundbreaking event included explosive fireworks and confetti to signal the start of construction and featured remarks from Discovery Science Center Board Members; Orange County Supervisor, Janet Nguyen; and Santa Ana Mayor, Miguel Pulido.

The Discovery Science Center recently won the National Medal of Service and is continuously working to provide first-class educational exhibits and programs in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Environmental Stewardship, Early Learning, and Healthy Living. The expansion will include a new Welcome Center, Education Wing, California Natural Resources Pavilion, Mission Control, Healthy Kitchen, ABC Early Learning Zone, and 500-Seat, 10,000 SF Showcase Theater. “This is a transformational project for our community,” said Co-Chair David Horowitz, “it will enable DSC to become one of the premier science centers in the nation”.

More than 150 guests attended the event including Driver SPG President, Karl Kreutziger, and C.W. Driver President, John Thornton.
