Driver SPG and C.W. Driver Renovate Employee’s Home!

Driver SPG and C.W. Driver Companies are continuing their partnership with the ALS Association of Orange County by renovating the homes of individuals living with ALS. Driver SPG has committed to renovating six homes in 2015 and recently completed the first project!

Fernando Aguayo has been a laborer for C.W. Driver for the past 14 years and is currently working on the Saddleback College Sciences Building in Mission Viejo. Fernando’s wife, Araceli, was diagnosed with ALS three years ago at the age of 37. The Aguayo’s home didn’t have a handicap accessible bathroom or bedroom on the main level, so C.W. Driver Companies stepped in to help out.

The Driver team was able to expand the existing half-bathroom in order to add a handicap accessible shower, ADA toilet, new sink and countertop, new lighting and exhaust fan, and new tile throughout. The project also included transforming the garage into a master bedroom. The garage door was sealed off to create a 400 SF bedroom with new electrical, ceiling fan, paint, baseboards, dual-pane window, double doors, and hardwood floor. The floor was sloped at the entrance of the bedroom in order to allow access in a wheelchair. In total, the project is valued at more than $36,000 and took 431 hours of volunteer labor to complete.

Of course, we could not have done any of this without the generous donations of labor and materials contributed by key subcontractors. We would like to say THANK YOU to The Raymond Group, Southland Industries, Hoover Flooring, IDEAS, Anderson Howard Electric, All Pro Enterprises, Continental Marble & Tile, Borbon Painting, and Corona Aluminum for making this project possible!

The Aguayo’s renovation project was a special success because it gave C.W. Driver Companies the opportunity to support one of our long-time employees during a very difficult time. Thank you to everyone who helped out!
